Burger, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, wrote this letter to former Associate Justice Arthur Goldberg in 1978 to congratulate him on winning the Presidential Medal of Freedom. 1 page, 5 ¾ x 7 ¾, 1 sheet folded, on the Chief Justice's Supreme Court stationery.

In full: I was in the West attending a series of Judicial Conference Committee meetings when you received the Medal of Freedom. I would surely have been present had I been here. Vera joins you in warmest congratulations on this well deserved honor. He was an Associate Justice on the U. Supreme Court from 1969 until his retirement in 1986.

Wade, which legalized abortion of fetuses for any reason. See more material from these signers. See more listings in our SUPREME COURT (600).
