SIR EDWIN LANDSEER Autograph Letter Signed. He was noted for his paintings of animals. His best-known work is his painting of the stately red stag in "Monarch of the Glen" which is now on display at the Scottish National Gallery.
LANDSEER was known to be Queen Victoria's favorite painter and she knighted him in 1850. She also commissioned several paintings from this very popular artist. The letter is on the recto and verso of a paper that has been folded vertically twice and once horizontally across the middle. The whole letter now lies flat.
