Union Civil War General John J. Peck War-date Autograph Letter Signed

  

Brevetted in the Mexican War for gallantry, Peninsula Campaign, successfully defended Suffolk against Longstreet (Hood's and Pickett's divisions) where he was wounded in action. Later in the war, he directed the District of NC and Department of the East, where he regulated affairs with the British provinces of the Canadian frontier.

War-date Autograph Letter Signed, 1p. 3/15/1864, New Bern (NC) during his command of the District of NC, to Amos Binney of Baltimore on "Headquarters Army & District of North Carolina" letterhead.
