Scarce ALS: "Tommy Burns", 1p, 5½x3¼. No place, 1949 July 24. To Roy Pitts, Anniston, Alabama. Penned on verso of penny postcard, not postmarked, self-addressed by Pitts.

Burns won a 20 round decision in Los Angeles on February 23, 1906, winning the World Heavyweight Championship from Marvin Hart. He lost his title two years later in Sydney, Australia on December 26, 1908, when Jack Johnson knocked down Burns in the 14th round and the police stopped the fight. Mounting remnants at upper left and right blank corners on verso, which also bears pencil notes (unknown hand), no show through.
