Autograph Letter Signed: " Affectionately/Norman ", 2p, 6x8, front and verso. Stockbridge, Massachusetts, no date (but accompanying envelope is postmarked September 28, 1961). In full: Dear Peggy - Since we are such good friends, I just don't want the news to reach you second hand.

Molly Punderson and I are engaged to be married. I guess every one in town will probably know this before long. I know you'll be pleased for Molly and me.

Addressed in Rockwell's hand to : Mrs. Rockwell's printed name on verso. Rockwell's drawings, however, were skillfully executed with minute attention to detail and were so realistic that they usually resembled photographs rather than paintings.

Rockwell published his autobiography, Norman Rockwell, My Adventures as an Illustrator, in 1960. MOLLY PUNDERSON, a former schoolteacher, was Rockwell's third wife.

Addressee PEGGY WORTHINGTON BEST, an artist herself, was a close friend and sketching partner of Rockwell's. Scenic Stockbridge in the Berkshire Hills, a favorite vacation destination for Bostonians and New Yorkers, was Rockwell's home from 1953 until his death and it is the site of the Norman Rockwell Museum.
