One-page letter from Hawthorne to his son Julian's teacher regarding his education. Julian Hawthorne, the second of three children, was 17 years old and attending Harvard College at the time. Hawthorne was writing to James Russell Lowell, who was giving Julian private tutoring lessons in German.
