Joseph Warren Scott writes to his cousin John Witherspoon Scott, President of Oxford Female College and father of future first lady Caroline Harrison. The first subject is the death of Joseph's son Moses. The second half concerns family genealogy, and Joseph writes out his forebears and their children from his grandfather, who was exiled from Scotland, through his father Moses and their generation who participated in the Revolutionary War on down. Written in New Brunswick on January 4th 1858. Occasional splitting at folds and curling to edges.
