It was nice seeing you at Virginia Robinson's party which I found delightful.Lightly creased with folds, not at signature. Stray ink mark at lower left margin. Accompanied by biography of Hopper 1p, 6x7¾, likely in Mahoney's hand. Almost fifty and a failure she took her first steps toward establishing herself as a major personality with a serial and a gossip stint on radio. Her syndicated column began in 1938.
It didn't attract attention until she ran her first scandal tinged item. She built her syndication to 85 metropolitan and 3,000 small town dailies plus 2,000 weeklies. English-born author, literary critic and lecturer PATRICK MAHONY had published Breath of Scandal: A Satirical Novel in 1957.VIRGINIA ROBINSON was the wife of Harry Winston Robinson, the founder of the Robinsons department store chain.
