LEE AT THE BATTLE OF GETTYSBURG. Autograph letter signed by, Geo. Meade, " requesting his family doctor to check up on his very sick son and namesake: "George is laid up today. He does not deem it necessary to send for you, but I think if you can without inconvenience drop in it would be well.
He tells me he has had for more than a week past profuse perspirations at night and that he feels severely weakened by them. ONE YEAR BEFORE HIS DEATH, GENERAL MEADE REQUESTS HIS FAMILY DOCTOR TO CHECK UP ON HIS VERY SICK SON AND NAMESAKE. The letter is two pages (front and back) on personal letterhead, measures 5 by 4 inches, created on September 15, 1871, and in very good condition with very minor separations along the folds partially repaired with old tape and a note in pencil in another hand transmitting the letter to an autograph collector on the second integral page.
