GEORGE EASTMAN George Eastman writes letter to Dean of Columbia Graduate School of Journalism Autograph Letter Signed: " George Eastman ", 1p, 5¾x7.

On letterhead of Oak Lodge to Mr. In full: Many thanks for the advance copy of the Times containing review of Ackerman's biography. It is the most discriminating of all those I have seen. Ackerman, a war correspondent during WWI and later the Dean of the Columbia Graduate School of Journalism, wrote after Eastman's death in 1932: Mr. Eastman was a giant in his day. The social philosophy, which he practiced in building his company, was not only far in advance of the thinking during his lifetime, but it will be years before it is generally recognized and accepted. Oak Lodge was Eastman's winter home in Ringwood, North Carolina. He entered the photographic plate-making business in 1880 after inventing a machine to coat glass plates. The mass production of his dollar Brownie camera in 1900 made photography available to children. Lightly shaded from prior framing. Tackhead-size stain at lower left blank margin, red pencil mark beneath signature. See more material from these signers. See more listings in our BUSINESS & FINANCE (1,104).
