Here sixty years ago I saw in her coffin I saw the remains of my great-grandmother, who died at the age of ninety years. During the ambitious years of man's life he thinks little of the scenes & events of his childhood, to which he turns with almost love and veneration when he is about to lay down his burden of life and prepare for final rest. When we are again in our Albany home, I shall hope to show you the pictures all nicely framed. He worked first in wood, then in clay, and finally in marble and bronze, sculpting in a classical style.
His most famous work "The White Captive" is in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. His bronze sculpture of Robert Livingston is in Statuary Hall, Washington.
