ALS (Autograph Letter Signed), on Equitable Life Assurance Society stationery, dated January 21, 1880. Two pages, handwritten on one side only, 8.5 x 5.5. Maury replies to a correspondent seeking his autograph and information on Confederate Generals of the Civil War. He also suggests the correspondent subscribe to the books of the Southern Historical Society, an organization which Maury founded after the war. Signed with a bold clear autograph. Very good condition, the lower margin of first page has slight wear, both pages have repaired on backs only with pH neutral archival tissue, practically invisible. A scarce Civil War autograph.
