Influenced by European abstract artists, Calder began to experiment with motion, resulting in the works for which he is most noted: the mobile and the stabile. His giant stabiles and mobiles grace dozens of public buildings and plazas worldwide.

Calder also created stone, wood and bronze sculptures, drawings and paintings. Calder had a long association with Brazil, beginning with his first visit in 1948. See more material from these signers.
